Built on Trust.
Built for You.

Cornerstone Tax & Books was founded on a simple idea: tax and bookkeeping services should be clear, personal, and built on trust. Whether you are managing your household finances or running a small business, you deserve to understand what is happening with your money and know who is helping you manage it.

Personal Service, By Design

Cornerstone Tax & Books is intentionally a small, relationship-driven practice. When you work with Cornerstone, you work directly with the person responsible for your return or financial records.

There is no call center, no rotating staff, and no passing you from one person to another. The goal is simple: provide thoughtful service, clear communication, and careful attention to the details that matter.

Taxes and financial records can be complicated enough without feeling like you have to figure everything out on your own. When something is unclear, we take the time to explain it. When an answer is not immediately known, we find it rather than leave you guessing.

Built on Trust

Financial information is personal. It should be handled with the same care and respect you would expect from someone you trust with an important part of your life or business.

Cornerstone is committed to accuracy, confidentiality, transparency, and doing things right. We believe good service is more than completing a return or maintaining a set of books. It means helping clients understand what they are looking at and giving them confidence in the work being done.

Meet the Founder

Shane, founder of Cornerstone Tax & Books

I’m Shane, founder of Cornerstone Tax & Books. I started Cornerstone because I wanted to build a practice where people could receive knowledgeable tax and bookkeeping help without losing the personal relationship that makes good service meaningful.

I grew up on a dairy in Southern California and moved to Idaho eight years ago. Since then, I have come to love the Treasure Valley and the people who call it home. I’m an Eagle Scout, and service, responsibility, and doing things the right way have been important parts of my life for as long as I can remember.

Before starting Cornerstone, I spent more than 15 years working in the powersports and heavy equipment industries as a service advisor and service manager. That experience taught me that details matter.

Detailed invoices created records that could be reviewed later without question. Doing things right the first time avoided costly mistakes. And when a customer had a question I could not answer immediately, I knew where to find the answer rather than leave them guessing. Those lessons continue to shape how I approach tax preparation and bookkeeping.

I have also been preparing tax returns for more than 20 years across multiple states, helping friends and family navigate their filings with accuracy and confidence. That experience sparked a deeper interest in the profession and eventually led me to pursue accounting as a career.

Today, I am continuing my accounting education and professional development while building Cornerstone around the principles that matter most to me: accuracy, integrity, service, and personal responsibility.

My faith also shapes how I approach this work. I believe people deserve to be treated with honesty, respect, and integrity, and those principles are foundational to the way Cornerstone serves its clients.

Rooted in the Treasure Valley

Cornerstone Tax & Books is proud to serve individuals, families, and small businesses throughout Idaho’s Treasure Valley and surrounding communities.

The Valley continues to grow, bringing new families, entrepreneurs, and small businesses to the communities we call home. Cornerstone was created to grow alongside them while maintaining the personal relationships that make a small practice different.

We believe being local means more than having a mailing address here. It means being part of the community and treating the people we serve as neighbors, not account numbers.

Giving Back

Cornerstone believes a business can be about more than the services it provides. A portion of our proceeds is dedicated annually to supporting financial literacy and community programs that help individuals and families build stronger financial foundations.

This is one way we hope to contribute to the community that supports us.

A Business Built on Relationships

Cornerstone Tax & Books is being built intentionally: one client, one relationship, and one carefully prepared return or set of financial records at a time.

The goal is not to become the biggest practice. It is to become the kind of practice people can trust — one where clients know who they are working with, understand what is happening, and know their information is being handled with care.
